Barharwa (Sahibganj)। January 16, 2026: The three-day Annual Sports Meet of Rising Sun International School concluded on Thursday with high energy and resounding applause, as students displayed remarkable athleticism, discipline, and competitive spirit. Held from January 14 to 16, the event transformed the school grounds into a vibrant arena of sporting excellence.

From early-morning track events to gripping team games, participation spanned nursery to senior classes. The track and field segment saw standout performances, with Afik winning the 50-meter race in the Nursery category, while Ahil Raza dominated junior events including the 50-meter run and biscuit race in LKG. Senior sprints produced thrilling finishes from Israf, Imran, and Rohit, drawing loud cheers from spectators.

Girls delivered equally impressive performances. Mehnaj Tabassum, Nusrat, and Nurshaba secured victories across multiple age groups, underlining the growing strength of girls’ athletics at the school. Fun races such as biscuit, potato, ring-through, and spoon races added color and joy, especially among primary students, celebrating participation alongside competition.

Team sports remained the centerpiece of the meet. In Volleyball, Topaz House lifted the trophy, with Sohel Tanveer named Man of the Match. Ruby + Emerald House claimed the Senior Cricket title, where Kasim earned Man of the Match honors, while Sapphire + Topaz House won Junior Cricket, led by Sahabaj.

Football finals were fiercely contested. Ruby + Emerald House secured the Senior Football championship with Riyaz adjudged Man of the Match, whereas Sapphire + Topaz House triumphed in Junior Football, guided by Jahirul. Traditional games also thrilled the crowd: Emerald House won Kho-Kho (Boys) with Nayan Ghosh as Man of the Match, while the Kho-Kho (Girls) title went to the Nusrat Group, led by Nusrat.

Kabaddi bouts showcased grit and teamwork. Sapphire + Topaz House dominated both Junior and Senior Boys’ Kabaddi, with Akram and Istekhar named Man of the Match respectively. The Girls’ Kabaddi crown was clinched by the Fatima Group, where Nusrat impressed with her all-round performance.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Shambhu Nath Kar, Principal, who congratulated the winners and emphasized sports as a vital pillar for building confidence, teamwork, and leadership. The event was efficiently conducted under the guidance of Organizing Committee members Mr. Sankar Manna, Mr. Ashit Ghosh, and Mr. Ranjan Shaw. Special appreciation was extended to the Girls’ Games Organizing Committee Ms. Anu Lohara, Ms. Prabha Manger, Ms. Jyoti Tudu, Ms. Monika Uraon, and Ms. Nilam Kumari for fostering enthusiastic participation among girl students.

School Managing Director Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav lauded the collective efforts of students and staff, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to holistic education through sports and co-curricular excellence.
